Office development aims to keep firms in Selby

Office development aims to keep firms in Selby

Jobs are sure to be created in Selby through the completion of a new regeneration scheme. The site is being developed by regeneration specialists Priority Sites Limited where Britcon has been appointed to carry out the building work.

Adam Richardson, development manager of Priority Sites, said 'Abbey Court would be ideal for businesses that had outgrown their present home. Instead of moving to York or Leeds, they will be able to expand into attractive accommodation on their doorstep. That's great news for Selby.

'

Britcon have undertaken numerous similar developments for this innovative client and are currently working on a similar project in Cornwall.

Coun David Fagan, the chairman of the council's economy board, said: "We've been working closely with the developers to ensure the pieces of the jigsaw are in place so work can start on this project.

Priority Sites is a unique joint venture which brings together the strengths of a major private-sector financial group,The Royal Bank of Scotland, and a public-sector national regeneration agency, English Partnerships.

Britcon gives Broughton Fire Station a makeover

Britcon gives Broughton Fire Station a makeover

Broughton Fire Station operated by Buckingham and Milton Keynes Fire and Rescue Service was constructed early on in the development of Milton Keynes city, close to the village that gave the city its name.

The current station has an operational complement of 42 personnel; 28 working a wholetime shift system split into four equal watches, a Retained Duty System (RDS) crew consisting of 12 staff and a Station Commander.

The station is in a key location as the development of the eastern flank of Milton Keynes continues and the likely increase in both industrial risk and population continues.

In light of this Britcon were awarded a £700,000 contract to undertake significant refurbishment works. This work has increased the size of the bays to incorporate further appliances, provide further office facilities, vastly improve disabled access and amenities, and provide an upgraded heating arrangement and a more environmentally-friendly system in keeping with current regulations.

Broughton crews have been first on the scene at many incidents on the M1 motorway. These have included road traffic incidents where persons are trapped in their vehicles and many chemical spills.
