This £3m project included the construction of a 20MWe gas generation plant within a portal framed building complete with transformer room, offices and switchroom. Block and concrete engine enclosures constructed to be capables of housing eight 2.5MW gas fired gensets housed in pairs and support for attenuators and flue stacks. The construction of a concrete service yard with an electrified perimeter fence and incoming roadway to highways adoptable standard.
Britcon were chosen from competitive tender to construct a Concrete base of differing densities as to provide support for 30 ton gensets by forming a geogrid, strip foundations and mass fill concrete bases, enclosure housings of blockwork and concrete construction surrounded by an acoustic portal frame and clad structure.
The construction of a bounded concrete base for the siting of a 25MW transformer and perimeter concrete service yard including a hard standing for heat rejection radiator banks.
Installation of all service trenching and draw pits for incoming pipework and High Voltage cabling from the local Distribution Network Operators local major substation.
The building was sufficiently insulated as to provide acoustic protection when the gensets are in operation withy integral offices, an HV Switchroom, an LV transformer room and welfare facilities.
The whole site was then protected by a perimeter palisade fence with gates topped with an electrification system.
An adoptable standard new tarmac roadway was constructed and provided with maintainable LED streetlighting columns.
The whole project was completed September 2017.
