Kirklees College Fast-Track Refurbishment: The Latest Addition to Our Education Portfolio
Britcon is delighted to announce the successful completion of the Student Services Hub refurbishment at Kirklees College’s Huddersfield Centre. This project is an excellent example of our growing portfolio of fast-track refurbishments within the education sector, demonstrating our ability to deliver high-quality results within non-negotiable timeframes.
The £1.2 million scheme was completed in just thirteen weeks and has transformed the college atrium into a vibrant and inclusive space designed to enhance the student experience. The new hub now features a welcoming reception area, careers guidance pods, multi-faith rooms, safeguarding offices, and modern corporate spaces. A separate new Visitor Reception has also been created in the space. These improvements create a functional and supportive environment that meets the diverse needs of students and staff.
Delivering this project within a live college environment required meticulous planning and strict adherence to safeguarding protocols. Our team implemented enhanced DBS checks for all site personnel and visitors, developed emergency route plans, and maintained clear segregation throughout the works. By using lean planning workshops, early subcontractor engagement, and proactive procurement strategies, we ensured that the project was completed on time and ready for the start of the academic year.
The refurbishment involved a range of works, including minor demolition, bespoke joinery, glazed screens, suspended ceilings, new flooring, and upgraded mechanical and electrical systems. Every element was carefully coordinated to minimise disruption and maintain safety standards while achieving the client’s vision. The project was a direct award via the collaborative Procure Partnerships framework.
