Britcon Engineering Services (BES) completed a £750,000 contract to design, fabricate and install full structural steelwork for the much-anticipated new Boston United Community Stadium in Lincolnshire.

BES were contracted for the job by Chestnut Homes which is committed to deliver the community stadium as a part of its wider mixed-use masterplan, The Quadrant, in Boston town centre.

The Pilgrims’ new £12 million stadium is being built to Football League standards with increased capacity from 4000 to 5000. It will also provide a new range of community, sports, education and training programmes. The scheme includes a sports hall, an all weather 3G pitch for community use and educational and conference facilities. A climbing wall and dance studio have also been added to future plans.

BES has started the installation and aims to complete the West and North stands with associated facilities by the start of 2020 / 2021 season with the East and South stands to follow.

Kevin Cocker of BES said,
“We are delighted to be working with Chestnut Homes, the Club and its community to deliver this long-awaited stadium. We are fabricating and erecting over 350 tons of structural steel for the project as well as the composite flooring to the first-floor areas. We are working closely with other contractors supplying the pre-cast terrace and stairs units, cladding and glazing to ensure timely delivery before the new season.”
