Gainsborough Central Station

A new LM Footbridge that was designed with the provision of DDA extension by the addition of a passenger lift. Positioned over Gainsborough railway line to replace the existing structure that failed its structural inspection

The new footbridge is fully accessible for pedestrians to access Platform 2 of Gainsborough's Railway Station.

The existing structure failed its structural inspection and was deemed uneconomical to repair which resulted in the design and build of a new structure, required urgently to maintain operation of the station.

The new structure was installed over two night time possessions.

The footbridge was designed in consultation with Network Rail by Hyder Consulting UK to the latest Network Rail standard drawings and was constructed by Britcon Engineering Services for Construction Marine of Leeds.
