Works Scope

Britcon was appointed as Principal Contractor under the NEC4 ECC, Option A contract by North Lincolnshire Council (NLC).

Works included managing the bulk earthworks, contaminated waste, drainage, ducting, architectural landscaping, sustainable paving, decorative paving and intelligent area lighting, to bring a contemporary feel to the urban park setting.

Utilising natural decorative products, such as the paving and landscaping furniture, the area was transformed into a space enjoyed by local communities and businesses.

Further works were instructed throughout the contract to install new digital display screens throughout the Scunthorpe town centre.

Key Project Challenges

  • Completing challenging works in a live town environment.
  • 16 Weeks programme and weather risks.
  • Discovery and management of historic, expanding aggregate materials.
  • Reducing carbon and energy costs.

How we successfully delivered the project

We undertook multiple, pre-construction planning sessions with all stakeholders and developed logistical sequencing plans, presented to the Operational and Local Authority teams.

We also engaged with a number of specialist suppliers to undertake further surveys before completing the works, to ensure that we understood the risks and opportunities. We produced detailed risk assessments and a programme to ensure that completion dates could be achieved in line with budget requirements.

Our experienced, local team used our Procore project management software to automate many of the contract and workflow processes, supporting transparency and collaboration with the client, project team and designers.
